Extending OA 2 with Drupal at BADCamp

When: Saturday, Oct 26, 2013, 2:00PM - 2:45PM

Open Atrium is the most-used Drupal distribution and has long been a leader in open source tools for team collaboration, intranets, and social business software. Now, we're releasing the Open Atrium 2.0 for Drupal 7, with a new generation of collaboration tools to help your organization get work done together, better. Open Atrium 2.0 is for organizations with teams, clients, or affiliates who need a common platform to communicate, collaborate, and manage knowledge. From multi-brand corporations to geographically dispersed companies; from national nonprofits to international aid efforts; from networks of government agencies to local or national political campaigns; Atrium connects teams with knowledge.

In this session, we will introduce Open Atrium 2.0 and highlight the new features and functionality including

  • data access & privacy,
  • discussion forums,
  • event management,
  • knowledge management,
  • user identity integration (LDAP),
  • notifications & email integration,
  • mobile UX & Bootstrap theming
  • data migration from OA1

Then we will use common Drupal modules, such as Views and Panels to show how easy it is to build a plugin for Open Atrium 2 and extend it's functionality, without writing any code!

Even if you don't use Open Atrium, this will be a great intro to building Drupal web sites with some of the most-used Drupal modules.  During this live demo, you will learn:

  • How to create custom Content Types
  • How to create Views content panes for Panels
  • How to create Panelizer layouts
  • How to integrate all of this with the Open Atrium 2 framework
  • How to save all of your work using Features
